The Turkderm “Archives of Dermatology and Venerology” journal is published by the Society of Dermatovenerology in four issues each year.
The journal issues include original reports of researches in dermatology, case reports, reviews, abstracts, literature summaries, news, biographies and articles on historical medicine.
The editors and the editorial board of the journal have the authority to decide not to publish articles, return it to the author for correction or make corrections on format, according to the reports of the reviewers of the publishing consultant board.
The rejected articles are sent back to the author with a letter of explanation for rejection within two months.
The manuscripts format should be in accordance with Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication (available at http://www.icmje.org/)
All authors must approve the publication by a collective signature indicating their scientific contributions and responsibilities as well as absence of conflict of interests. Institutions, organizations, and companies of pharmaceuticals and materials contributing by allowances in money or in kind, even if only partial, should be quoted in a footnote.
For the experimental, clinical and drug studies having the obligation of being approved by ethical committee and being sent in order to be published in the Turkderm “Archives of Dermatology and Venerology” journal, ethical committee approval report being in accordance with the international agreements with Helsinki Declaration revised 2008 is required (www.wma.net/e/policy/b3.htm). In experimental animal studies, the authors should indicate that the procedures followed were in accordance with animal rights (Guide for the care and use of laboratory animals. www.nap.edu/catalog/5140.html) and they should obtain animal ethics committee approval. The approval of the ethical committee and the fact that the “informed consent” is given by the patients should be indicated in the “Methods” section. Authors should declare the conflict of interest concerning their articles and the financial supports.
The author must obtain written permission from the copyright holders for pictures, figures, graphics, and tables and indicate this within the text.
The authors hold responsibility for the articles.
The titles of the articles should be brief and clear, consisting of a maximum eight words, not including conjunction words. Keywords in English and Turkish should be provided on the left upper part of the page above the title to facilitate indexing.
Author information should enter the system only while registering the summary. The electronic files to be uploaded to the system (full text, references, etc) should in no way include the name and surname of the author.
The Turkish and English abstracts should consist of 300 words at most, and should briefly include the objective, methods, major findings and conclusion of the subject.
Research papers should include the following: Abstracts in Turkish and English, introduction, method(s) and material(s), finding(s), discussion and references.
Case reports should include the following: Abstract in Turkish and English, introduction, presentation of the case, discussion and references.
The abstracts in English should include the following paragraphs: Background and design, material(s) and method(s), result(s), conclusion.
The abstracts in Turkish should include the following paragraphs: Introduction and objective, material(s) and method(s), conclusion.
A Scientific Ethical Board report is required for pharmacological studies.
Brief communications should have a maximum three typewritten pages, including references. The articles in this section may include two figures and six literatures at most. However, they should not include keywords or an abstract in Turkish. Examples of this section can be found in the journal. Each table should be submitted in different files and numbered in Arabic numbers (e.g. Table 1, Table 2, etc.).
The number of tables should not exceed three, and the number of lines should not exceed 10 lines excluding the heading. They should only include horizontal lines; no vertical lines should be included. If the author insists on publishing more than three tables, every extra table shall be subject to payment.
The photographs should be uploaded to the systems in formats such as jpeg or gif. Original photographs should be submitted after the article is accepted.
References should be written in the order they are mentioned in the article and the following format should be especially taken into account:
Journals:
1) Initials of the surname and name of the author (colon);
2) Title of the article (only the first letter should be capital) (dot);
3) Title of the journal or its abbreviation in Index Medicus;
4) Date of publishing (semi-colon); Volume number (arabic) (colon); first page (hyphen) last page (dot).
